How to: Our bedroom makeover

Welcome to our sanctuary bedroom. Everything in our room represents a part of us. Sarah and I really wanted to do a bedroom makeover, the ‘budget friendly’ way :) and not break the bank (… Reno still in progress). Check out my bedroom before…

Check out our bedroom now…

When we were deciding what we wanted to do with our room, grey was the one color that we could both agree on. And as it turns out, it’s one of my favorite colors/shade. It’s a great color because it’s neutral, and a color that allows us to use other bright/bold colors as accents in the room. Another ‘thing’ we agreed on was the need for more storage space for clothes. After shopping around, we found that the Custom PAX wardrobe from Ikea was the best choice for us. It best suited for our needs and met all of our requirements b/c it looks good, works well and fits within the budget. We already owned most of the furniture and all they needed was a little accessorizing to fit in with our new design. The green stool that’s under our desk is actually a chair from Ikea and we took off the back support to make it into a ‘custom’ rolling stool.

What we have done so far:

- The wood panelling on the wall is from a previous project. (a post for another day :) )
– painted the room in grey (Creek Bend) and white (Powdered Snow) (BEHR color from Home Depot)
– adding decorative shelving for frames from left over scrap wood
PAX wardrobe

Things we still need to complete:
– add a coat hanger section (for our daily backpacks, purse, work bag, etc
– add trim around the room
– look for a real rug (currently using something really ugly with a burnt iron mark on it- LONG STORY)
– add a small seating lounge area
– look for a cabinet (like this)
– Make an accent throw pillow for bed
– better stool for our desk

Happy Monday folks :)
